Come To Arizona They Said ....

It's warm in the winter, they said!!  I have to admit they were right the first few years I came here.  If I remember, I even spent an entire day sitting on the La Mesa RV patio with the puppies while they replaced my air conditioner because it was so hot.

This year I've never been out of my jeans, wearing TWO shirts at all times.  Instead of sandals or tennis shoes, I'm sporting my cowboy boots at every turn.  It's just been downright COLD!!
Not too many days ago, I stood on the patio watching the rain turn to snow.  While Jesus was installing my flooring, I also sat on the patio, but this time I was watching hail.  The storms coming up from the Gulf of California hit the Santa Catalina Mountains here, dumping a lot of moisture before heading further East.
And then there was the SNOW!  Thank goodness there wasn't any falling in my back yard this time, but it surely was up on the mountain side.
In no time, the entire range was covered with the white stuff.  Lucky for me electricity and gas aren't that expensive in Arizona ... well at least compared to California!  The puppies and I were warm and toasty in our long johns, jeans, two shirts and a sweatshirt!!  I would wear fuzzy slippers, but I'm already getting shocked enough around the house without adding to the electricity in the air.
I was up rather early this morning ... 4:00 to be exact.  A HUGE train came rumbling through my bedroom, out the door and down the hallway, before exiting the garage.  I think there was only two engines on that one and they were working their little hearts out!!  Once awake, I might as well get up or subject myself to what seems like hours of bad dreams.

Today we're planning a journey South to a quilt show in Sierra Vista.  Thank goodness the Weather Gods have planned a nice week of mid 40 to mid 70 days.  Please please, no more snow!!

More Facts:  Out of all the U.S. States, Arizona has more land designated as Indian Land than anyone else and Billy the Kid killed his first man Windy Cahill, in Bonita Arizona (wherever that is ...).  Which reminds me, it's about time to head South to Tombstone!!

    1. You HAVE had a cold spell. Kind of shocked Mr. Russell I think. I'm sure it will heat up shortly. The Weather Gods are taking us back to the old days.

  3. We are finding the opposite, this winter. Last year, our first year, was much cooler, wetter and windier so we are loving the heat. Yes, we've had a cool/cold couple of weeks but I've had my share of 'shorts and tanks' days. :)
Love your 'train' experience, did you say hi to the conductor as he passed through? haha
There must be something to prevent static 'cause I would be wearing slippers (remember?) maybe a dryer sheet. i'm going to google it for you.

    1. I've tried everything for the static. Only a good carpet spray will work, but I haven't been able to find any here. Guess the locals are used to it!!

  5. We've noticed the cooler days this year but like the Meteorologist would say, "This is Winter".
Be Safe and Enjoy the Trains.

  7. I'd much rather be there with a little cold than in this 85 degree humidity of Florida...although today it is only 75, not bad at all. Don't know how I will handle the summer humidity when Marcia can't travel anymore, but that will still be awhile, we hope.

    1. Oh that's right ... you also have MUCH more humidity. I imagine I would be staying inside ... either at home or the mall!!!
