On the other hand, because I've worked hard, I get to live a pretty nice life in a beautiful house and drive a big RV around the country, so I'm done complaining. I also get to eat STEAK .... finally!! I threw this huge ugly steak on my new grill last night.
It came out WONDERFUL!! You were all right, this Weber Q1000 is a keeper!! Having cleaned out the basement of the motorhome, I now have the perfect spot to carry it with me!!
Early this morning, Mr. Cooper has to go have his teeth cleaned. I'm terribly nervous about this whole thing. He's like my kid, you know? To make it worse, I can't stay there. It's a drop off and pick him up around 3:00. You KNOW I'm going to go crazy all afternoon waiting!! Put in a good word upstairs for me, if you would please!!
In the meantime, I'm eating STEAK and eggs for breakfast!!!
All of us that worked hard and saved feel your pain . It's not just your part of Calif.
ReplyDeleteJust enjoy your life style and know they will never have a similar one.
Good words to remember. Thank you!!
DeleteI used to live in New York, so I know how you feel. After I retired I moved to Texas. What a wonderful feeling not to have all the Taxes.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's a GREAT feeling!! One I hope to have in the not too distant future!!
DeleteWe moved to New York eight years ago from Md. Don't know which is worse but I think NY has it! The leaders who constantly think up new ways to steal or borrow? our hard earned money and make life difficult for the retired as possible. However now....Calif? Really beautiful! Enjoy!:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how imaginative they can be when it comes to taking our money, but they can't figure out how to balance the budget and pay off some of our national debt!!
DeleteWe retired, sold our house and moved into an RV, and the market tanked. (2008) Sound about right? We have friends who have to work part time because they did the same thing we did at the same time we did but their tank got a little more empty than ours did. We feel lucky that we have not had to go back to work.
ReplyDeleteThat is true Linda. I do see many RV people who have to work to keep up the lifestyle. I AM lucky, and I know it, but if I had some of that money in my pocket, I could do more good things for others!!
DeleteI think I would have a long talk with the tax attorney
ReplyDeleteEven if you do have a good CPA they can only give advice
Your situation is unique only to your situation
One other thing if you do collect Social Security you are entitled to legal consultation
And there's got to be an IRS tax office that you could make an appointment at close by
Or you could go out make another pizza,,
,I still vote for beer and pizza.,,,,that's only because I don't know what kind of wine goes with pizza
I think you can probably drink ANY kind of wine with pizza, Ed! Not sure if there is a tax attorney around here, but I'll check it out!!
DeleteHope you saved a little of the steak for Cooper.
ReplyDeleteHaven't paid California taxes since 1986 tax year, but paid a healthy amount between 1972-1986, that's for sure. Paid much less in Arkansas percent ways, but still paid a bunch there too. Now in Florida, just federal tax to worry about. I think one day soon you too will have much less to do with Jerry and his welfare state. :)
You know me well ... of COURSE I saved some for Cooper!! LOL
DeleteHave a question for you about ugly steak is it the steak that is good or is it the marinade that makes the steak good
ReplyDeleteBeing marinated also softens the steak more
And when you buy it how much do you pay per pound
I know it's close to ball steak and try tip. I know it's sold only at Dickinson market but does it go by any other market name. ?? 2500 miles is a long way to go for a piece of steak but I do have an excellent butcher here in Florida and guarantees he won't sell any Florida beef unless you like shoe leather
So if you compare that to tenderloin marinated ? how close would we be
(A special note )
(anyone that marinate tenderloin steak needs to be hung up at high noon )
It's the steak .... no marinade here, just a little lemon pepper. Yes, it's by the pound ... $11/lb if I remember right. I've only seen it at Dickman's. It is one of their own creations, coming from near the bottom sirloin and is not known by any other name. It's not pretty (kind of sliced up), hence the name, but highly marbled. I rank it up there with a really good tenderloin (never marinated)!!
