Good morning ... Good morning!! I think that probably sounds more cheerful than I am at the moment, but hey .. I'm alive and well in Central California. Just a bit stressed.
This should help that out considerably. The big firm I'm working for part time has the worst calculator in history. Maybe that's why things are the way they are. So yesterday, after six grueling hours at a too small desk stacked two feet high with "stuff", I got on my phone and ordered this. It's what I use at home and works SO MUCH better than your phone calculator!!
Six hours later I was finally done just enough to get out the door. I'm retired, and SO not used to working that many hours in one sitting. Unfortunately, I have to go back again this morning for some government on-line payments. This will ease the pain!!!
The rest of the day I spent going through this Elks binder that is so full I could not close it. I came to an amazing conclusion. I don't need this in my life. It's too bad because I loved the people and the "Elkdom", but that has flown out the door. It is 100% not worth the stress of dealing with people who have no clue.
There's a meeting tonight ... I'm not going ... and another one next week ... I'm not going to that one either. I guess I finally just hit my limit. When all this is over, I'll relate some of the craziness. I have agreed to help the "King" out with Bingo until he leaves mid December.
There was one magic moment when I went to my truck after Bingo. I found this lovely box of candy. Someone is trying to twist my arm ..... or ruin my diet. I've no idea where it came from, but it's the perfect size for Halloween!!! The bribe did not work however!!!
Can you believe it? It's October 15th already. Weird weather is the name of the game. We are jumping up to 88-95 for three days, then dropping like a rock to 60 degree days. All I can say is it's about time. Today I'll get out the electric blanket for my bed!!!
This picture? I have absolutely NO idea where this came from. I did not take it, nor do I think I have ever been here ... wherever HERE is. If I took it by accident from online, it would have black space at the top and bottom. It's a ghost picture ... appearing in my phone photo album last night. I think someone, or something is telling me to get out of town!!!
So this blog makes a very long day look very short. I'm tired and hungry. Maybe some bacon will brighten my day. That and watching Watch Kitty keep watch. She is always on the job ... mostly ... okay, SOME of the time.
Hope you have a great day!!!
I know how much you loved the Elks Nancy, but the stress is not worth it.
ReplyDeleteYour health is much more important.
Rest if you can
Frances:)
I have finally come to that conclusion Frances.
DeleteWhen I worked in the restaurant some 40 years ago, we did inventory every week. I got good, very good, at using a calculator to multiply items on hand by how much they cost. Then I had to add up the worth of all items...add up the invoices for each of these items that we had delivered that week...then it was simple math...$$$$ amount for starting inventory, plus cost of incoming inventory for that week, minus what inventory we had on hand at the end of the week, equals cost of goods used that week. My older brother, who got me the job back in 1972, walks into my office (he left the business but had just come back) while I am adding the results of what we had on hand. I was using a sharp calculator, much like the one you displayed today. I was going so fast he insisted I was faking it. So I gave him the total, added them up again and gave him the total...which matched the first total. He was like $h_t, you really do that real fast. Why don't you run a printout and verify it that way? I said, because running the tape slows me down so much, I can add this thing up twice and if I get the same answer as I did the first time, all is good. If I run the tape, I have to compare the tape with all the numbers to be sure it is right...takes a LONG TIME to do that. I LOVED my Sharp calculators, they were the best!
ReplyDeleteExactly my experience. I never use the tape ... it's a waste of time. You get as good at a Sharp as you do typing on a computer. That inventory stuff is a lot of work!!!
DeleteI had a calculator exactly like that one. I loved it. When the group moved to McClellan Park I think they took it.
ReplyDeleteI have had a Sharp calculator at home for probably 50 years. LOVE THEM!
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your photos. That calculator reminds me of one I saw so long ago! Take good care of yourself and get some rest, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSharps have been around for a long time. They are a good one to own.
DeleteNice photo of a place you haven't been to..............lol
ReplyDeleteRight? I have no idea where that came from. It even looks like snow!!!
